(how have i just made my tagline sound like the most surreal orgy in the world..?)
so im not handsome (as it is often called) is a taiwanese series staring the most adorable taiwanese person in existence jj lin. now if you dont know about him maybe check out the jj lin she says mv on youtube
zhuang jun wei (jj lin) is a guy who has always been told he is handsome by family and neighbours - small village type friends of the family and the such.
after being shot down by the girl he likes, xu xin ting (alice ceng), saying he's too ugly, his friends try to explain to him that really he isnt that good looking at all.
now, im not sure how they thought they would go about making jj lin look ugly
but they seemed to have given up before even starting due the insurmountable task that would be. he is absolute oceans of squiggly munchkin cuteness - sorry for the utter girlieness.
zhuang is a lovely guy who dotes over xin ting and they inadvertanty become best friends.
zhuang's two house mates si si (nicky lee) and kang (michael zhang) often cause problematic situations in the most bizzare ways for themselves and zhuang so when he becomes close to xin ting his idiot friends pull her and her friend man man into their stupid shinanigans aswell.
so they start a pigeon racing club ...with one pigeon.
kang wins a bet and man man has to become the club's maid for a while,
si si meets a girl who turns out to be an alien with two personalities (played by winnie zhong),
and zhuang tries to help xin ting confess to the guy she loves.
(zhuang being the only one of them that seems to be able to behave like a human being)
its all pretty weird and farcical and i loved every minute of it. i enjoyed the banter between man man and kang. jozie lu who plays man man is stunning. i like her in this - she looks so cute always wearing little shorts and printed t-shirts, kind of tomboyish.
the closer zhuang and xin ting get the more you totally root for him and cant believe she cannot see how great he is. they have such a sweet friendship and jj lin and alice ceng have lovely, fun, playful interaction and also sometimes very emotional scenes together.
all the stuff about si si's new mental freak girlfriend was just plain bizzare
but she was the perfect girl for him for absolute sure. and i loved her.

lots of other stuff goes on - there is never a dull moment in the pigeon racing club and yes they do even get to race the damn thing at one point.
si si and kang have the potential to be really annoying characters but by the end of the second or third episode you know them inside out and missed at what point you started to love them.
there are lots of ups and downs, it has a great - but not all soppy-and-stupid-fairytale-type - ending, many laugh out loud moments, tons of stupid behaviour, smushie lovely love type bits, and of course it has jj lin in every episode so really thats all i need to know to want to watch it all over again.
aw she was so mean at the beginning and that pic below is how we spend most of the show - watching jj lin be cute and alice ceng wondering what the f*ck he's up to now.
