CHANGE [series]

was there any need for madonna? really?

yes this is a political human drama series but dont be put off. i tend to fall asleep at the mere mention of politics and never go out of my way to watch a drama about a subject i have no interest in, but seen as the lead actor was kimura takuya (mr brain, tsuki no koibito, engine, hero the list goes on and on and oni didnt give it a second thought and watched it as soon as it came my way.

i was surprised to see kimura with curly hair - i did laugh at first. it was kind of rediculous. but by the end of the series i kept being disappointed every time he came out with it straightened - i actually really liked it curly.

kimura's character asakura keita is really quite adorable from start to finish. asakura was an elementary school teacher (pushed around by his tiny students) with no interest in politics but likes star gazing and his quiet life.

asakura came from a political family and wanted nothing to do with that life style, but when his father and brother die in a plane crash asakura is pressured to run for his father's high position.

the plan orchestrated by kanbayashi shoichi (terao akira) to use asakura as puppet for his own means to become prime minister starts to fall apart as asakura shows his strong will to fight for just causes.

asakura is supported by a weird bunch of people that make up his campaign management lead by nirasawa played by non other than abe hiroshi its pretty much the same character as in dragon zakura (^_^)

i found it to be quite funny pretty much all the way through in that subtle intelligent way that kimura likes to act. he really is so easy to watch.

i dont want to spoil anything so i wont explain too much at all, i was really quite surprised at how it turned out - and also by the fact that i couldnt stop watching it untill the end. i watched two episodes a day i think.

i thought the ending was fantastic. i cried in awe and really felt quite moved
by the whole thing to be honest.

its not one of my favourite dramas but i really did like it so much at the time which must say a lot - i really get so bored with anything political - not to mention confused - very confused.

i think this series' charm was how innocent asakura was. his almost childlike honesty and ignorance was not only endearing but a chance to see difficult political matters through totally refreshing eyes.

id say it is worth watching. kimura and abenot much chance of it being bad really is there.

dragon zakura ドラゴン桜 [series]

if i had played maths and physics ping pong at school would i be able to count now?

what can i say about dragon zakura... it is full of awesome people and has a great story. no matter how unimpressed these guys look.

so mr lawyer man becomes a teacher at completely usless reject school somehow the plan is suddenly to get a handful of students into Todai (uber super great tokyo university with tough entry exams) mr lawer man inlists the help of a bunch of proper anime-style teachers and use ingenious learning methods to overcome the years of slack education.

its funny and clever and has the fantastic pairing of yamapi and nagasawa masami looking really ickle a fair fews years before the genius that was proposal daisakusenthe main point of awesomeness definately comes from abe hiroshi who plays sakuragi (mr lawyer man)

the group of dumbass kids he takes on are all struggling with some sort of lack of support or tough home situation not condusive to building confidence or motivation. yamapi and nagasawa being two of these students, the others are played by koike teppei, aragaki yui, nakao akiyoshi, and saeko.

what a great bunch of actors though right?

(^_^)

not a miss-cast actor anywhere. dragon zakura is on my recomend to friends list and i think we could all benifit from employing these unique ways of learning in both our studying and teaching.

its fun with lots of of dry humour and also really sweet in many places. there is lots of yamapi doing his really really bored p*ssed off facenagasawa being adorable - and i mean adorableteppei being his usual standard of comical idiotabe being the most sarcastic unimpressed person you will ever see, and hasegawa kyoko (english teacher ino mamko) retardedly missing the point over and over again.

i love these two (^_^) thankgod for proposal daisakusen because dragon zakura just wasnt enough masa-pi for my liking.
