orange days オレンジデイズ [series]

chibi eita and ueno juri again

orange days is a great drama for those about to go to uni (which i am - yes im a little late with that but shut up). the group of friends form somewhat haphazardly and begin to center around the pairing of kai and sae.

sae who is deaf uses sign language and lip reading to communicate, kai already knows how to sign as does her friend akane.

a close bond is formed between sae and kai through a bikering volatile friendship and kai's busybody current girlfiend is pushed to the side.

as the group become much closer the series follows their ups and downs involving university, thinking of their future, and their relationships.

cast:
orange society:
kai - tsumabuki satoshi (long love letter, IWGP, lunch no joou)
sae - shibasaki kou (sora kara furu ichioku no hoshi, galileo)
shohei - narimiya hiroki (yankii-kun to megane chan, gokusen)
akane - shiraishi miho (suppli,nodame cantabile )
keita - eita (voice, nodame cantabile, last friends, sunao ni narenakute)

maho - konishi manami (shoni kyumei, anitque)
ayumi (shohei's sister) - ueno juri (nodame cantabile, last friends, sunao ni narenakute)
yuriko (sae's mother) - fubuki jun (sunao ni narenakute, fuurin kazan)

orange days has really made me want to learn JSL now, i picked up quite a bit just from watching the show. i liked how the others in the group who do not already know how to sign pick it up quickly and try their best to use it for sae.

it is quite an emotional series. sae's character has been through a great deal of trauma due to losing her hearing (she is a musician so it was a huge distress) and kai tries to soften her closed prickly personality enough to become a person she can trust and rely on.

akane and shohei have a kind of will-they-wont-they thing as (obviously) do kai and sae. eita's character is the "nice guy" that never gets the girl :(

this series ads to the endless amount of things eita and ueno juri have been in together though in orange days they dont have any scenes with each other.

this drama is very funny and sweet but it is one of those sort of series' that takes you through all the frustrating hardships that friends face together. it isnt hard going, it isnt all fated to end in complete disaster - though it comes close at times.

with the emotional rollercoaster sae has to ride due to her disability and the seat kai takes next to her in that journey, there are many upsetting moments to go through, but overall this is an uplifting fun series that makes me want to be closer to my friends and not waste the time we have together.

and it really makes me want to learn JSL.

and my god, shibasaki kou is so beautiful. have you seen her pocky adverts?

she is so adorable i cant even explain. she did the milk pocky ad once, i saw it on youtube and nearly died of her cuteness.

i know that tsumabuki satoshi has done some pocky ads too (who hasnt?) if they havnt thought of this already and ive just missed it, they should have them do one together. orange flavour pocky! they missed a trick there. damn it i want pocky now.

anata wa watashi no pocky!

yawarakai fuwa fuwa + shibasaki kou =
*dies of cuteness*

you're beautiful 미남이시네요 [series]

can i have jeremy as a pet please? he'd get on with pet taguchi too dont you think?

ok, i really dont know where to start. lets go with a cast list.
that will help.

A.N JELL:
hwang taekyung - jang geunsuk (mary stayed out all night, beethoven virus)
go minam - park shinhye (hayate the combat butler, heartstrings)
kang shinwoo -jung yonghwa CN Blue [band], heartstrings)
jeremy - lee hongki (F.T Island [band], muscle girl)

others:
yoo heyi - uee
manager ma - kim inkwon
mr kim - choi ran
mo hwaran - kim sungryung
president ahn - jung chan

so i obviously watched this because i have a (minor but growing) fixation with hongki's teeth. i dont know why, but there it is.

love that mental little munchkin.

when i started this drama i did have some fears during the first two episodes that it was a cheapo version of coffee prince but it really does become its own animal later on.

so on to the plot then i guess.

a nun, twin of some dude who is being signed to a big shot band but off in some hospital somewhere, is asked to fill in for her brother and sign said contract in his place while he is indisposed.

dressed up like a boy she plays his part but it goes on for far longer than anticipated.

gradually the band and other linked people come to find out of her real identity through various stupid accidents and ridiculous going ons, and there are a whole heap of love triangle type epic disasters that start to form.

i have to say, however side tracked by geunsuk's hysterical pout and yonghwa's increasingly stalker like affections, hongki still made this drama for me.

never failing to have me in stitches

(other than when he had me in tears - i missed a whole chunk of what happened  cos i was too busy sniffling)

and as a side point to my former mocking self, he was called jeremy in gumiho because their band A.N.JELL made a cameo appearance, so it was the characters from this in that. It all makes sense now

so, the main character, played by shinhye, go minam - well, i wasnt sure i liked her. at first i didnt really have much context for her and kept thinking maybe i should have watched this before coffee prince, but - i really need to stress this - she is wonderfulim glad i gave this a fair chance. yes, she is annoying, yes the way she pouts as she talks is f*cking irritating but she is kinda meant to be like that, she is childlike and dense.

this girl ^  was the great little miss evil sh*t head yoo heyi. the same facial expressions as park soojin in my girlfriend is a gumiho, she wants to be hwang taekyung's girl and puts a constant spanner in the works, pretending to be little miss sweet to the world while really being a jumped up pr*ck of a girl.

most of the characters are really quite a flawed bunch of idiots. theyre all a bit of a mess. but it works. it has that kind of madcap sense of stupidity and humour that korean dramas flaunt so well.

the pouting became intolerably funny after a while. i thought i wouldnt be able to stand another but they just kept coming. geunsuk became funnier and funnier with each episode and i wasnt really expecting the comedy to come from him.

seriously he pouts more than Ikuta Toma in Maou

looking back at this drama it was definately another one i will enjoy watching again years later.

i wanted to watch this as muscle girl (hongki) and heartstrings (yonghwa, shinhyeare both airing at the moment and i wanted to get on with those two shows. seen as i still hadnt gotten around to finishing this i thought i should crack on with it first.

i have seen funnier dramas. i have invested more emotion and been taken through more challenging story lines. but this series is by no means even average in my affections. i did definately love it and am completely happy with the fix of smiley hongki-teeth it allowed me to have. aish he really is so funny. the mix of the 3 guys and shinhye worked so well.

it was a great drama. it will definately have a safe spot in my memory, and yes i went straight onto ebay and bought the stickers and sh*t that go with it, and am kinda tempted to get some of the other stuff i saw but i must resist! i like the pig-rabbit merch though. seriously. how long can i hold off before i buy that sh*t?

she is seriously so cute. im so happy she is in heartstings. cant wait.

i dont really know what else to say about this drama so have some videos.

video: funny cut from ep14
[jeremy reading fan fic about the band]
i put some subs on there so you knew what the hell they were saying.

video: the cast dressed as SNSD and dancing to genie
hongki as jessica - i nearly died laughing
ANJELL being d*cks some more...

hongki just being a randomly awesome moron
i love that he tweeted this vid saying: 완전웃겨 (fully funny) on twitter
he knows he's a moron.

fujoshi kanojo 腐女子彼女 [movie]

she’s the girl no-one knows how to love,
he’s the guy every crazy girl hopes to meet.

main cast:
#matsumoto wakana (kamen rider den-o series and movies)
#daito shunsuke (tumbling,nobuta o produce, crows zero 1&2,
hana kimi, himitsu no hanazono, shibatora, rescue, futatsu no spica)
#furukawa yuta (beck, kamen rider den-o movie yellow)

when I started watching kamen rider den-o a while back
I recognised ari but couldn’t place her for ages.
then slowly the image of her laughing in the butler café crept into my head
and I remembered it was her adorable performance of yuiko in the
live action movie of popular manga fujoshi kanojo,
how to date an otaku girl. (thats not what it means but its the western title)

now, the lovely lovely lovely lovely daito shusuke plays the male lead
in this film, and that alone makes it worth watching.

He has one of the best confused and horrified expressions of anyone,
and has to exercise them constantly throughout fujoshi kanojo
the more his character finds out what a nutter his new girlfriend is.

a fujoshi is someone with a liking for shounen-ai manga (boy love)
and usually upon finding out about her otaku nature
yuiko is dumped in disgust, but hinata (daito)
doesn’t know what the hell a fujoshi is so he tells her its ok
(having fallen completely head over heels in love at first sight)
only to slowly realise she is a bit of a nut bar.

hinata tries his best to try and go along with
her bizarre fantasies – even reading some manga he would normally
find embarrassingly stupid. the both of them are adorable and bonkers,
i couldn’t love this film anymore than i do, it is impossible not to
wish them endless happiness so much that you could burst.

i always always cry at the end of this movie – it completely
turned me into the biggest most squealing useless idiot of a girl
the first time i watched it and even skipping through to
get screenshots just now i teared up. i love it so much.
its very funny and sweet, really sad and adorable.

every crazy girl wants to find a boy like him.
and secretly every boy must want a cute crazy girl like her.
they must do. she is so lovely.

i wish matsumoto wakana had been in more dramas
or at least a few more movies, i love her so much in kamen rider
and when i watched fujoshi kanojo for the first time way back when,
i think i fell for her almost as hard as hinata fell for her character.

she must be great if im squealing about her and not
going off on a fan girl rant about fuuchi. although
I cant let this post end without a bit of a キャー and a little
‘team fuuchi’ flag wave. cant help but love daito shunsuke.
with all the things ive seen him in and adored,
i think his role in this movie may be my favourite – though
I say that with apprehension as my mind scans over
all the other roles of his ive really liked. (especially fuuchi)

the story is great (proper girlie though) the casting is perfect
and the acting is superb. it is over the top, very funny,
cringingly sweet (and embarrassing too) and just plain brilliant.
it’s a film i revisit periodically and will stay in my movie collection
for as long as i have one.
