yamato nadeshiko shichi henge ヤマトナデシコ七変化 [series]

get some sunglasses woman!

ynsh is a great series where we spend the whole time watching kamenashi kazuya (kat-tun)'s character walking around all broody being p*ssed off with being so beautiful. haha! awesome.

a group of guys live in a big old house rent free on one condition - that they make the girl who lives there a 'real lady'not really knowing exactly what a real lady means they take on the seemingly impossible task of turning a horror obsessed reclusive nutter into a 'normal' girl.

oomasa aya plays sunao, dubbed 'horror girl' by tanako (kamenashiwho cannot even bare to look at the four men as she is completely dazzled by the brightness of their beauty. literally. she sees them so brightly by rights she should have permanent retinal damage.

in a blinding light she pants; ma... ma... mabushii! when they come too close, then in an attempt to shield herself she lands a flying pacchigi head butt right in the forehead of the opposing guy.

seriously, not being able to look at kamenashi kazuya is no way to live.

oomasa is fantastic in ynsh. what a star. so funny, such a weird voice. the pairing of her and kamenashi worked surprisingly well and this became a very funny and unexpectedly sweet series.

kamenashi is flawless. as always. and if youre gonna have a role where the guy is supposed to be gut-achingly beautiful - so much so he was thrown out by his family for the constant burden of girls breaking down the dooryou gotta cast that little bent nosed turtle, right?

he shouts and screams a lot in this drama. no one yells quite like him. im not sure which one he shouts more in - ynsh or gospel. in gospel it was the resounding shiister!! shiister!! and in ynsh he shouts busunako!! at sunao to get her all p*ssed off and make her go all lightening flash earthquake rumble psycho goth girl.

i love the bits where sunao and tanako beat the sh*t out of everyone together, its great when they team up to fight. i also love how she totally wins his heart by the food she cooks him all the time and not really by her personality.

there are some adorable moments with the two of them and i dont want to ruin it but i'll just say there is a brilliant kiss in there somewhere that i replayed over - sqealing and laughing at how cute it was. ...yes i think i hit replay a few times.

i'd better say a bit about the rest of the guys i suppose. tegoshi yuya from news makes another extremely camp appearance in ynsh (not sure which was more camp - him in this or my boss my herocuddling a teady bear at all times and even at one point came out in a full on lolita dress - oh my god he looked like a girl so muchim wishing they do another princess princess d with him in it or something. he wears the weirdest clothes in this. what were those f*cking trousers all about. he looked like he was always in pajamas.

the other two guys in the house are oda (uchi hiroki) and ranmaru (miyao shuntaro) who sit more on the womanising side of the fence. they cause a fair bit of trouble and have their own problems to bring to the already neurotic pot.

my favourite guy of all is takeru, the young son of the owner of the house. he lives in the mansion while his mother is away trying to find a husband and sunao looks after him. the banter between him and tanako is really funny

takeru is played by the wonderful kato sheishirohe has been in a stack of things of which id seen fuurin kazan, zatoichi, and voice. he really is great. and i hope his career just soars as he gets older.

it has a load of great supporting cast - you could spend forever listing them but im not going to. im tired from doing that with tokyo ghost trip earlier.

one point i have to make is the absolutely ridiculous opening. the four guys sing and dance pop video style in such a cheesy way i choked from laughing the first time it started. and sunao flitting about like a bat in the middle of them... so oddtegoshi had me in a fit with his wink at the camera. i had to skip the song each time - i couldnt take that level of unashamed ridiculousness.

it ends fantastically and the ups and downs in the story do make you want to keep on watching. it is tanako and sunao's bizzare friendship most of all that makes you wonder what on earth they have planned for the next episode.

basically its very funny and sweet, superbly far fetched, kamenashi looks absolutely great in it, oomasa completely proved her worth as sunao, and the pair of them made a bonkers but brilliant pair of idiots.

those trousers. ♥
